PAI BRITISH AIRWAYS LANDOR PACKAGE FOR FS2002, BY DAVID BRIGHTWELL
------------------------------------------------------------------

If you prefer the old Landor colours of British Airways (the smart blue/red/grey livery), you will like this package!

The following Landor textures are included:

Airbus A320 McDonnell Douglas DC-10
Boeing 737-200 Boeing 747-400
Boeing 737-300 Boeing 757-200
Boeing 737-400 Boeing 767-300
Boeing 737-500 Boeing 777-200

You require the standard British Airways package, available from Project AI, to enjoy this download. You will also need PAI B732 and PAI DC10 aircraft models. If you do not currently have any PAI B732 or PAI DC10 aircraft in your FS2002 hangar, these are available as Paint Kits from the 'Certified Resources' section of Project AI.

The idea behind this package is to REPLACE the existing BA textures in your hangar. If you feel that you might wish to use the existing (newer) livery at some future date, make sure you back up all your Project AI BA texture folders and put these in a safe place out of the way. However, if you dislike what BA did to their fleet in the late 1990s, then just go ahead and overwrite your existing folders with these.

NOTE: My original intention had been to upload this package to Project AI. However, Project AI no longer permit developers to present complete packages - only individual textures. So I have uploaded it to Flightsim and Avsim instead.

NOTE: I have not included any night textures. A) This reduces the download size. B) I could not get the night textures to work!

NOTE: All textures are in DXT1 Opaque format. I tried DXT3 with Alpha, but they looked awful and I could not solve the problem.

NOTE: There are no textures for the Airbus A319. It never appeared in the Landor colours, so I am 'replacing' it with the B732.

NOTE: I have given all the aircraft textures the registration "G-BRIT". This is because an aircraft without a registration looks weird.

NOTE: I have given names to most of the aircraft, pixels permitting, based on the name 'Landor'. This is simply to give an indication of how BA used to name the different aircraft types. In real life, none of them were called 'Landor' anything - they all had different names. At least you will know what the aircraft were named after.

NOTE: The 737-500 is painted in a 'transitional' livery, which hints at the dreadful fate to befall the whole fleet. The reason for this is because I could not find any evidence that the 735 appeared in the full Landor colours. I did however see a photo of one in the transitional scheme.

NOTE: If you like, download my BA L1011 TriStar from SurClaro or SurClaro.com. Mike Stone's model makes an excellent AI aircraft, with very little impact on frame rates. Replace some of the B777s in the flightplan with it, and your BA fleet will look even better!

INSTALLATION OF ALL TEXTURES EXCEPT B732 AND DC10:
--------------------------------------------------

1. Download and install the Project AI British Airways package, if you have not already done so. This is available from www.projectai.com.

2. Check that your British Airways package has installed properly in FS2002. This may not always be the case.

3. If you want to save the 'World Tails/Union Flag' liveries, move the "texture.BAW" folders from each of your PAI aircraft to a safe place somewhere else. If not, they might be overwritten by these Landor textures.

4. Unzip THIS download to a temporary folder.

5. Open the folders of THIS download one by one, and MOVE the "texture.BAW" folder inside each one to the appropriate PAI aircraft in FS2002/aircraft. For example, open the "A320" folder, then move the "texture.BAW" directly to "PAI A320" in your FS2002/aircraft. Do the same with all the other folders EXCEPT the B732 and DC10.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION OF B732 TEXTURE:
-----------------------------

The Boeing 737-200 was operated in considerable numbers by British Airways, but is not part of the standard Project AI BA pack.

1. Check your FS2002/aircraft hangar and see if you already have "PAI B732". If the answer is 'yes', go to Step 4.

2. If the answer is 'no', visit the Project AI site. Download the Boeing 737-200 Paint Kit from "Certified Resources/Paint Kits".

3. Install the "PAI B732" as a complete aircraft in FS2002/aircraft, using exactly the same techniques as for any add-on aircraft. There is no 'panel' folder in an AI aircraft. You do not need one!

4. Open the "B732" folder that came with THIS download, and move the "texture.BAW" directly to your "PAI B732" folder in FS2002/aircraft.

5. Now go to your "PAI B732" folder, and open the "aircraft".cfg with a text editor such as Notepad.

6. If you already had the PAI B732, (in other words, if there are already other airlines in your FS2002 that use the B732), find the [fltsim] sections in the "aircraft".cfg. These might be at the bottom of the text! Now go to Step 8. Alternatively, if you had to download a PAI B732 Paint Kit especially for this package, then go to Step 7.

7. In the "aircraft".cfg you will see a section called [fltsim]. Change the data so that it looks like this:

[fltsim.0]
title=PAI B732 BAW <-----------Important!
sim=pai732v2 <-----------------Must match the AIR file name.
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=BAW <--------------------Important!
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=
atc_id_color=0xffffffff
atc_airline=Speed Bird <---------Important!
atc_flight_number=
ui_manufacturer=Project AI
ui_type=BOEING 737-200
ui_variation=British Airways <----Important!
atc_heavy=0
description=Project AI B732 Only for use with AI Traffic!

Now go to Step 9.

8. If you already had a PAI B732, copy the last [fltsim] section in the "aircraft".cfg and paste a new section after the last one. In the new section, change the data so that it looks like this:

[fltsim.xx] <-----Change "xx" to the next consecutive [fltsim].
title=PAI B732 BAW <-----Important!
sim=pai732v2
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=BAW <-------Important!
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=
atc_id_color=0xffffffff
atc_airline=Speed Bird <-------Important!
atc_flight_number=
ui_manufacturer=Project AI
ui_type=BOEING 737-200
ui_variation=British Airways <-----Important!
atc_heavy=0
description=Project AI B732 Only for use with AI Traffic!

9. You now need to go to Traffic Tools. Run the TDecompiler to update the "Aircraft".txt and "Flightplans".txt.

10. Open the "Aircraft".txt, and find all the 'BAW' aircraft. Change "PAI A319 BAW" to "PAI B732 BAW".

11. Run the TCompiler.

You have a choice now. You can either go ahead and install the DC10 using the instructions below, or if you are a perfectionist and want all your aircraft registrations to be accurate, you can open the "Flightplans".txt and change all the BA Airbus A319 registrations to Boeing 737-200 registrations. This is not difficult. Just click on 'Edit' in Notepad, then click on 'Find', and enter "AC#1599" (or whatever aircraft number you had for the BA A319), and change each registration to any of the following:

Based at EGLL:

G-BGDA G-BGDB G-BGDC G-BGDD G-BGDE G-BGDF G-BGDG G-BGDH
G-BGDI G-BGDJ G-BGDK G-BGDL G-BGDN G-BGDO G-BGDP G-BGDR
G-BGDS G-BGDT G-BGDU
G-BKYA G-BKYB G-BKYC G-BKYD G-BKYE G-BKYF G-BKYG G-BKYH
G-BKYI G-BKYJ G-BKYK G-BKYL G-BKYM G-BKYN G-BKYO G-BKYP

Based at EGKK:

G-BGJE G-BGJF G-BGJG G-BGJH G-BGJI G-BGJJ G-BGJK G-BGJM

All these were real 737-200s, in service with BA in 1990.

Run the TCompiler to finish.

----------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION OF DC10 TEXTURE:
-----------------------------

1. Check your FS2002/aircraft hangar and see if you already have "PAI DC10". If the answer is 'yes', go to Step 4.

2. If the answer is 'no', visit the Project AI site. Download the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 Paint Kit from "Certified Resources/Paint Kits".

3. Install the "PAI DC10" as a complete aircraft in FS2002/aircraft, using exactly the same techniques as for any add-on aircraft. There is no 'panel' folder in an AI aircraft. You do not need one!

4. Open the "DC10" folder that came with THIS download, and move the "texture.BAW" directly to your "PAI DC10" folder in FS2002/aircraft.

5. Now go to your "PAI DC10" folder, and open the "aircraft".cfg with a text editor such as Notepad.

6. If you already had the PAI DC10, (in other words, if there are already other airlines in your FS2002 that use the DC10), find the [fltsim] sections in the "aircraft".cfg. These might be at the bottom of the text! Now go to Step 8. Alternatively, if you had to download a PAI DC10 Paint Kit especially for this package, then go to Step 7.

7. In the "aircraft".cfg you will see a section called [fltsim]. Change the data so that it looks like this:

[fltsim.0]
title=PAI DC10 BAW <-----------Important!
sim=paidc10 <-----------------Must match the AIR file name.
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=BAW <-----------Important!
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=
atc_id_color=0xffffffff
atc_airline=Speed Bird <-----------Important!
atc_flight_number=0001
ui_manufacturer=Project AI
ui_type=McDonnell Douglas DC10
ui_variation=British Airways <-----------Important!
description=Project AI DC-10 only for AI use!
atc_heavy=1

Now go to Step 9.

8. If you already had a PAI DC10, copy the last [fltsim] section in the "aircraft".cfg and paste a new section after the last one. In the new section,change the data so that it looks like this:

[fltsim.xx] <-----Change "xx" to the next consecutive [fltsim].
title=PAI DC10 BAW <-----------Important!
sim=paidc10
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=BAW <-----------Important!
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=
atc_id_color=0xffffffff
atc_airline=Speed Bird <-----------Important!
atc_flight_number=0001
ui_manufacturer=Project AI
ui_type=McDonnell Douglas DC10
ui_variation=British Airways <-----------Important!
description=Project AI DC-10 only for AI use!
atc_heavy=1

9. You now need to go to Traffic Tools. Run the TDecompiler to update the "Aircraft".txt and "Flightplans".txt.

10. The DC-10 will be replacing part of your British Airways B777 fleet (the part based at Gatwick, EGKK). All the BA DC-10s were based at Gatwick. Open the "Aircraft".txt, and look for your "BAW" aircraft.

11. After the last BAW aircraft in the list, insert a new one, like this:

AC#1601,450,"PAI DC10 BAW"

BE CAREFUL! If there is already another aircraft assigned to "AC#1601", choose a different number that will make sense.

12. Close the "Aircraft".txt, and open "Flightplans".txt.

13. Click on 'Edit', and click on 'Replace'. In the 'Find' box, enter "AC#1598", or whatever number was assigned to your BA 777. In the 'Replace With' box, enter "AC#1601", or whatever number you have assigned to the BA DC10. DO NOT click 'Replace All'!!!!!! Just click on 'Find'.

14. Notepad will find the first BA 777. Check the flight plan data for that individual aircraft. If it is based at EGKK, you will see a lot of EGKKs in the text. If there are a lot of EGLLs in the text it means that the aircraft is based at EGLL, so you will want to keep it as a B777. (If this is the case, click 'Find Next' again). However, if it is based at EGKK, go ahead and click 'Replace'. Notepad will then look for the next BA 777. Just keep doing this, making sure you leave the EGLL 777s as 777s, until Notepad says "Cannot Find...".

15. If you want your DC-10s to fly around with B777 registrations, then all you have to do now is exit Flightplans.txt and run the TCompiler. You're done. But if you want to do things properly, continue to the next step.

16. In "Flightplans".txt, go to the top of the page, and click 'Edit'. Then click 'Find'. Enter the AC# of your BA DC-10 (for example, AC#1601 if that is what you used), and then change all the registrations of your BA DC-10s to any of the following:

G-BEBL G-BEBM G-BHDH G-BHDI G-BHDJ G-MULL G-NIUK G-DCIO

These were all the real DC-10s that BA used to operate in 1990.

When you have finished, run the TCompiler and....

YOU'VE FINISHED !!!! You now have a good-looking fleet!

Enjoy.
